Jep & Jess: Beyond the Bayou Premieres August 13, 2026
A new Robertson family adventure begins in Texas.
On August 13, 2026, Jep & Jess: Beyond the Bayou makes its world streaming premiere on Great American Pure Flix, following Jep and Jessica Robertson as they leave the familiar Louisiana bayous behind for a new chapter centered around family, faith, community and the wide-open landscape of North Texas. The series makes its television premiere Saturday, August 15 at 9/8c on Great American Family and GFAM+.
And right at the center of that story is a place very close to us: Mirador.
In a new interview with TV Insider ahead of the premiere, Jep and Jessica shared more about the adventure viewers will see unfold this season, including the development of Comanche Moon Ranch and Mirador, home of the Texas Shire.
For us, it marks a pretty incredible moment. What began as an idea to create a completely different kind of Texas getaway is about to be introduced to families across the country.
Beyond the Bayou: A New Chapter for Jep and Jessica Robertson
Millions of viewers first came to know Jep Robertson and the Robertson family through Duck Dynasty. But Beyond the Bayou is intentionally different.
Rather than trying to recreate what viewers have already seen, the new unscripted lifestyle series follows Jep, Jessica and their family into a new season of life as they spend time in Texas and help bring a growing community at Comanche Moon Ranch to life.
Great American Media describes the series as being centered around purpose, faith, meaningful work, relationships and authentic community. The show follows the Robertsons through ranch projects, family life and the process of building something intended to last for generations.
Jessica told TV Insider that the series isn't simply a renovation or construction show. Instead, it focuses on family, community, faith and a slower way of living, with plenty of humor and real family moments along the way.
That philosophy happens to be a big part of what Mirador was designed around from the beginning.
Meet Mirador, home of the Texas Shire
TV Insider describes Mirador as being at the heart of Comanche Moon Ranch, introducing it to viewers as the destination also known as “The Texas Shire.”
Mirador is being created as a collection of extraordinary short-term stays in the Texas countryside, beginning with our whimsical, earth-covered Texas Shire Houses.
These aren't traditional cabins. Built into the landscape with living green roofs, curved architecture and storybook details, the houses were created to feel as though you've stepped out of everyday Texas and into another world.
It's exactly the feeling Jessica Robertson described after spending time here during filming. Speaking with TV Insider, Jessica said, “I really felt like I was in Narnia for a moment.” She also compared the atmosphere to The Lord of the Rings.
We'll gladly take that. Because that sense of discovery is precisely what Mirador is meant to create.
From Duck Dynasty's Louisiana Bayou to the Hills of Texas
The setting may have changed, but many of the ideas that made the Robertson family resonate with viewers remain.
Family. Faith. The outdoors. Gathering around a table. Building something with your hands. Spending more time with the people around you and less time rushing through life.
Jep told TV Insider that his late father, Phil Robertson, deeply influenced his appreciation for getting children outdoors, hunting, fishing and experiencing life away from screens. That theme became particularly meaningful to Jep while filming this new series.
It's one reason Comanche Moon Ranch became such a natural setting for Beyond the Bayou.
The North Texas property is being developed around a vision of community and outdoor life, with privately owned ranchettes, shared gathering spaces and destinations designed to bring families and neighbors together.
Mirador adds another piece to that vision: a place where visitors can actually come experience it for themselves.
The Texas Shire Houses Are Only the Beginning
Viewers of Jep & Jess: Beyond the Bayou will get an early look at the creation of Mirador and its unusual Texas vacation homes. But what appears on screen is just the beginning.
The first collection includes three hobbit-inspired Texas Shire Houses, tucked into the hillside beneath grass-covered roofs and designed as immersive stays rather than ordinary vacation rentals.
They're playful without feeling like a theme park. Whimsical without losing the beauty of the surrounding Texas landscape. And they're being built for the kind of trips that become family stories: weekend escapes, family reunions, father-son adventures, retreats and quiet days spent outside.
Jessica told TV Insider that she sees the property becoming a place where families, groups and churches can gather, fish, retreat and experience the peacefulness of being outdoors together. That's exactly where Mirador is headed. And we're only getting started.
When Can You Stay at Mirador?
The premiere of Beyond the Bayou arrives just ahead of another milestone.
Mirador is preparing to welcome its first guests in September 2026.
Jessica revealed in her TV Insider interview that bookings for the Texas project are expected to begin around September 1, describing the unique stays and surrounding views as something that feels almost transported from another place.
Soon, viewers won't have to simply watch Jep and Jessica explore the Texas Shire on television.
You'll be able to experience it yourself. Stay beneath a living rooftop. Wake up in the Texas hills. Explore the ranch. Slow down. And discover a side of Texas that feels just a little bit impossible.
