Mirador Announces Launch of Immersive Storybook Stays in North Texas
A one-of-a-kind hospitality destination brings whimsical architecture, cinematic design and unforgettable overnight experiences to Texas, including the debut of the Texas Shire Houses featured in Jep & Jess: Beyond the Bayou.
Mirador, a new immersive hospitality destination built around imaginative, design-forward stays, will officially launch in September 2026, introducing guests to a collection of highly themed overnight experiences unlike anything else in the region.
At the heart of the launch are the Texas Shire Houses, three hobbit-inspired homes tucked into the Texas landscape and designed to feel as though they have been there for generations. With grass-covered roofs, round doors, handcrafted interiors, winding garden paths and richly layered details, each house offers guests the chance to step out of everyday life and into an entirely different world.
The Texas Shire Houses are also connected to Jep & Jess: Beyond the Bayou, the Great American Family series following Duck Dynasty’s Jep and Jessica Robertson as they build a new chapter of life in Texas. Mirador and its imaginative stays are featured as part of that story, giving viewers a behind-the-scenes look at the vision, creativity and work involved in bringing the destination to life.
“Mirador was created around a simple idea: people want more than somewhere to sleep,” the Mirador team said. “They want a place that becomes part of the memory. We wanted every stay to feel transporting from the moment you arrive, while still feeling warm, comfortable and rooted in the Texas landscape.”
The Texas Shire Houses
Mirador’s first collection includes three individually designed, hobbit-inspired houses, collectively known as the Texas Shire Houses.
Each home is built into the landscape with its own personality, details and sense of discovery. Guests enter through signature rounded doors into spaces layered with weathered timber, stone, plaster, vintage furnishings, warm lighting and unexpected storybook touches.
Though intentionally whimsical, the houses are designed as true overnight accommodations rather than simple themed sets. Each house sleeps up to four guests and includes a queen bed, bunk sleeping area, private bathroom, kitchenette, Wi-Fi and comfortable gathering spaces.
Outside, guests will find landscaped lawns, private garden spaces, rustic fencing, stone paths and views of the surrounding Texas countryside.
Among the collection is Bramble House, a cozy green-doored retreat designed to feel like an old countryside cottage hidden beneath the earth. Its intimate interiors feature timber beams, stonework, collected antiques, botanical details and warm, fireside spaces that make the home feel lived-in rather than staged.
The other Texas Shire Houses carry their own distinct personality while remaining part of the same immersive village experience.
A Different Kind of Texas Getaway
Mirador is being developed around what the team calls immersive stays: destinations where architecture, landscape, interiors and storytelling work together to create an experience guests could not replicate in a traditional hotel or short-term rental.
Rather than treating the home simply as the backdrop for a trip, Mirador makes the stay itself the destination.
The concept is designed for couples, families, weekend travelers, celebrations, creative retreats and guests looking for something genuinely memorable within driving distance of major North Texas cities.
The Texas Shire Houses are only the beginning.
Mirador is also developing additional imaginative accommodations, including swamp-inspired houses and cave-style stays, each intended to offer a completely different world while remaining part of the broader Mirador brand.
The long-term vision is to build a collection of places that are instantly recognizable, deeply experiential and worth traveling for.

The series follows the Robertsons as they embrace a new season in Texas, highlighting family, community, entrepreneurship and the creation of new ventures. Mirador and the development of its storybook accommodations are part of that journey.

The property has been designed from the beginning as a permanent hospitality destination, with the intention of attracting travelers long after the first guests arrive and the first episodes air.
Designed for the Experience and the Camera
Every Mirador stay is intentionally designed to feel cinematic without sacrificing comfort.
The Texas Shire Houses combine dramatic architecture with tactile, imperfect materials and collected furnishings, creating spaces that feel discovered rather than newly constructed. Round windows frame the countryside. Timber beams stretch across ceilings. Stone fireplaces, worn woods, garden beds and tucked-away corners encourage guests to slow down and explore.
The result is a destination that photographs beautifully while still feeling personal when experienced in real life.
Mirador’s creators have intentionally avoided the polished, theme-park feeling often associated with novelty accommodations. Instead, the homes lean into texture, craftsmanship, natural materials and a sense of age.
The goal is not simply for guests to say, “This looks cool.”

Launching September 2026
Mirador is scheduled to officially welcome guests beginning in September 2026.
The initial launch will center around the three Texas Shire Houses, with additional Mirador experiences planned as the property continues to grow.
Reservations, property details, photography and launch information will be released through Mirador’s official channels ahead of opening.
The September debut represents the first chapter of a much larger vision for the destination: creating a collection of extraordinary places where families and travelers can disconnect from the ordinary, reconnect with one another and leave with a story worth telling.
